Slow Site 1
I have no idea why things are running so slow here. It’s not my server (other things on the server pull up quickly), and I’ve disabled any WordPress plugins that could be causing the problem. I haven’t upgraded my WP installation in awhile so I’ll try that shortly, but that still wouldn’t explain why it’s all of a sudden slowed down. Stay tuned.
Update: As of last night, the site was still running incredibly slow. I changed nothing since then. This morning, the problem seems to have been resolved. Strange.

Cover leftovers.
Break out the shrink wrap (or better yet use reusable containers!), and keep your food items covered when you place them in the fridge. The moisture in uncovered foods and liquids evaporates in the dry air of the refrigerator making the compressor have to work even hard (and run even longer). New refrigerators are about 10 times more energy efficient that their ancestors but the fridge is still one of your homes biggest energy hogs. Anything you can do to ease the power your fridge uses makes a big impact.

Just a Thought 1
Does anybody still remember that guy the Republicans are running at the TOP of their ticket?
Yeah, I didn’t think so.
Seriously? 0

As for Her Speech 0
I didn’t watch it (I generally don’t watch speeches), but I just read it. Now I’m gonna have to find a video of it, because for all the praise it’s gotten, her delivery must have been worthy of an Oscar. The words themselves were far from impressive.

I’m Tired of Palin 2
But she just keeps giving more gems to write about. Lest anyone think that a John McCain ticket would be without a theocrat, Palin confirms that she sees her job as Governor to “implement God’s will.” What exactly is the “will of God” to her? Well for one it involves a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in Alaska. For two, it involves the war in Iraq which she calls “a task that is from God.” Perhaps most disturbingly, she thinks her job as Governor is to ensure “the people of Alaska’s heart” is “right with God.” Thanks, but no thanks Palin. I’m content to decide for myself if I’m right with God, I don’t need the government to do it for me.

Funny, because you fully endorse and support Obama saying that he is “go(ing) out and do(ing) the Lord’s work”, as well as his endorsement of people who Democrats scream are “theocrats”.

First of all, I don’t care if Obama is “go[ing] out and do[ing] the Lord’s work.” I don’t care if Palin is. Further, I couldn’t possibly care less who either of them think are “role models of Christians who put their faith into action.” What I care about is when either one of them begin to think that is their job as a government official.
Secondly, I do NOT fully endorse and support Obama. I disagree with him on many things and have not shied away from calling him out on those things. I think between Obama and McCain, Obama will run the country better, so I will vote for him but (unlike the LCR crowd) I don’t try to weasel his flat-out wrong positions into something palatable, I call them like I see them. His willingness to permit off-chore drilling: WRONG. His intention to expand faith-based initiatives: WRONG. His opposition to same-sex marriage: WRONG.
So let’s see, first your comment is wrong on the notion that I fully support and endorse every thing about Obama. Second your comment is wrong because you tried to paint Obama as a theocrat and used examples that had nothing to do with government. It’s great to be a Christian. A Christian only becomes a theocrat when they begin to think it’s the government’s role to enforce their faith. Try to put together less flimsy of an argument next time.

Chrome 0
Chrome, the new open-source web browser from Google should be coming out any minute (the beta version at least). It’d have to be tough to overcome my love for Firefox (I’ve tried to switch from Firefox many times but nothing else has quite compared). On the other hand, if there’s ever been an authority on all things internet, it’s Google. I look forward to test driving their browser effort.
Unfortunately today’s release is Win only. I’ll still be testing it, but it can’t become my new browser until they release it for a better OS.

Get the Junk outta your trunk.
It’s one thing to keep a first aid kit or a car jack packed away inside your car’s trunk, but using your trunk as outright storage space comes with a cost to both your wallet and the environment. The heavier your car, the more gas it takes to move it from Point A to Point B, and if your trunk is full, the difference isn’t trivial. Try keeping you trunk empty of everything you aren’t needing to transport every day. If you only need to move somethign once a week or so, put it in your attic/basement and just carry it out when you need it. It’s really not that much extra effort for a pretty significant impact.
It’s Not A Temple 1
If I hear one more conservative stating that Obama plans to speak from a makeshift “Temple of Obama” at the Democratic Convention, I’m going to scream. Classical architecture has long been associated with government. What was the symbol for your college’s Student Government? I’d bet it had a column in it. What do the White House, Supreme Court, and Capital Building (among other historic government buildings) have in common? Columns. Maybe, just maybe it’d make sense for a politician running for a major role in government to use symbols of government in his campaign. Nope, couldn’t be that simple, it apparently means Obama thinks he’s a god.

Damn “Ionic versus Doric” partisanship!
Still, isn’t there just a little bit of irony in a progressive party and candidate using classical backdrops? /teasing
