Swimwear in January?

January 5, 2009

I’m not one to make resolutions for the new year. I never have been. Yet every year, usually in the summer when it’s too late anyways, I find some swimsuit that I would want to wear, if I could work out enough to look REALLY REALLY good in it. Now, unlike most of the rest of the country currently talking about getting ready for swimsuit season, I’m not talking about loosing weight. I’m 5′ 11.5″ and 145 lbs. I’m not overweight by anyone’s definition and I’m also not unhealthily thin looking either. My problem is a lack of definition. If the light is right, I sorta-kinda have a visible 6-pack, but even that is hardly “defined” and I’ve no pecs to speak of and frankly my backside is a bit flatter than I’d like. Needless to say, that swimsuit never gets purchased.

This year though, I’ve found the swimsuit that I want NOW, while there technically still is time to get into the shape I’d like to be in for it; if only I’ll do it. TheBoyfriend™’s suggestion is to buy the swimsuit now and hang it on the wall as a constant motivation to stick with an exercise routine. Of course, though he wouldn’t say as much, he does have a vested interest in me having a nice looking body. While purchasing the swimsuit may well be a good motivator; i also concern it may well be a waste of $55 if I don’t actually pull off sticking to an exercise routine.
