Strange Spam

Been getting some peculiar spam from from IP 94.102.60.151 the last few days. Akismet is catching it now after I marked the first two I received as spam. But the the thing i don’t get is this. The comment contains no links, just random characters like “2045hjsdfjefn45f,” there’s no url entered to be linked to from the commentor’s name, and even the email address seems to be nonsense. What possible benefit could they be getting by posting spam that in no way sends ANY traffic their way? I don’t get it.

Me too, and at least one other gay blogger I know.
Yay for the “deny from” feature in HTACCESS!
Just an FYI, now that you’re on Wordpress you don’t need to hassle with the HTACCESS file to block a person from commenting (though you do if you don’t even want them viewing your site). You can block any IP or text string from comments in the discussion settings in your admin section.
Still, I’m baffled as to why somebody is doing it. It’s far too infrequent to be an attempt to disable the blog, and without any kind of linkback, it’s not generating them any potential revenue. Very, very strange.
