Netflix!
DVDs are cheap, but honestly, how often do you re-watch those movies? Renting is a lot cheaper than buying movies (and a hell of a lot cheaper than seeing them in the theater). It also allows for the same disc to be re-used decreasing the number that need to be produced. If you order through an online delivery program, like NetFlix or Blockbuster Online, you even save the inconvenience and gas of a car trip to the store. I’ve found that online rental programs typically cost less than store-renting as well if you usually rent more than two DVDs a month (trick is to not go with their “recommended” plan, but with the plan that best fits your movie watching habits.

Netflix also now offers free streaming video for many secondary titles, so even the mailing of the DVD becomes extraneous.
Now everyone can become a Doctor Who fan at no cost and no environmental impact. You have no excuse.
