Feline Friday 8
It’s been awhile since I have made a Feline Friday post. I saw this comic strip though and had to post it. It’s funny because it’s true.
Meanwhile, I’ll have to find a new place to keep the “T-R-E-A-T-S” as they’re called in our house.

Office Remodel 0
Shortly after (my former officemate and) I got my old office fixed up nice (in fact almost immediately after), my boss decided to convert it into a conference room. I didn’t mind too much because I got moved into my own individual office (a couple of my co-workers unfortunately got laid off, and I got one of those offices). The downside is I was back in an office with obnoxious stark white walls. Worse yet, under the chair rail has this gross “wallpaper” that’s made of some sorta grasses, and I’m not allowed to remove it because, while I’m free to paint the walls, the grass paper belongs to the building’s owner and not our company so we can’t remove it. I’ve been in here for months now, but I finally got around to painting it.
I should have taken a before picture but all I’ve done so far is paint so just imagine everything that is now green as being bright white and you’ll get a good idea of where I started. I’m really digging the color considering that I had to choose something that went with the grass paper and the darker wood tone of the molding. As I get the spare cash to do so, I’ll probably put some kind of mirror on the wall behind me (I’m thinking of doing a grid pattern of smaller, frame-less square mirrors) and on the wall in front of me I’ll probably hang a floating shelf with some kind of plant life on it and paint something to hang over it. There’s also a quasi-panoramic view from my desk below though the quality of my cellphone camera made the stitching together of the images not turn how as nice as one might like.
Vick Dogs Blog 1
A few of Michael Vick’s dogs now have a blog to tell their stories. Looking at the headshots of this site’s “authors” on the side, one wonders how it was even possible for someone to look at those faces and even think about mistreating them (they’re all cute, but I could just eat Zippy right up).

My Stripper Name is “American Idol” 0
There was only one ‘Idol’ this year who I thought was particularly good-looking. Once he gets kicked off (either by the producers or the voters), I guess I know where I could go to see more of him. ALOT more of him.

Now is a good time to expand your repertoire of skills and knowledge.
Does that mean I’m about to get fired?
A Gay 2
While reading this excellent post at Aunt B’s, a “related, but not quite on topic enough with her post to leave it as a comment there” kind of thought occurred to me.
Using “gay” as a noun offends me, though I have no idea why it does. I’ll happily acknowledge that “I am gay” or that “I am a gay man,” but you’d never hear me say that “I am a gay.” In fact my skin crawls a bit just typing it. Even when I know for a fact the speaker is not intending to be offensive, it makes me uncomfortable (I’ve been in that situation a few times and didn’t comment to the person using the term because I can’t think of a good reason they shouldn’t use it).
Reflecting on it now, I wonder if it doesn’t have something to do with the idea that my gay orientation is only a part of who I am, and that using the adjective as a noun somehow implies that it is ALL that I am. At the same time, that explanation seems to fall a bit short because I am A graphic designer; I am A son; I am A boyfriend; I am A brother; etc. On the other hand “graphic designer,” “son,” “boyfriend,” “brother,” etc are not and cannot be used as adjectives, so maybe therein lies the difference. I’m not sure. Seems a little weak to me, but it’s an interesting thought experiment nonetheless.
Meanwhile the phrase “gays and lesbians” doesn’t bother me in the least. Go figure.

I didn’t get this, but I’m not a math person, so charts tend to make my eyes glaze over and drool drip from the corner of my mouth. Maybe someone can explain it to the non-left brain segment of the population?

SB,
The graph illustrates the notion that as a human being approaches a cat the intelligence of the human being goes down, and the probability of said human making an inane statement goes up. It’s illustrated by the stick figure approaching the cat only to utter the obvious statement “You’re a kitty!” I know I do that with my cats frequently approaching them and being reduced to saying something like “That’s daddy’s baby boy” in a goofy “baby-talk” voice.

Thank you for submitting to yesterday’s Carnival of the Cats, hosted on my blog. Having a houseful of cats, the graph makes sense to me — I find often find myself more fluent in Cat than in English!

Thanks for the ’splaining, Dolphin!
This is very true. We tend to sing silly love songs to all of our cats, which makes us very silly indeed and the cats very annoyed.
