TheBoyfriend™ and I have casually been mentioning to each other for about the last month that we really need to get Sigyn (the youngest cat) spayed soon, but in all of that talking neither of us had actually bothered to pick up the phone and talk to the the vet about actually having it done. I don’t need anybody to tell me how irresponsible that is because I know, but in our defense we don’t know precisely how old Sigyn is and it’s hard not to look at her as still a young kitten because she’s still a fair bit smaller than both of the two boys. So it was put off, and put off some more, then this weekend, she went into heat.
Now, we don’t have to worry about her getting pregnant because she’s indoor only and both of the boys have long since been ball-less. Still she’s been wandering around the house making her mating call that sounds kinda like a pigeon (a sound I fear is slowly driving TheBoyfriend insane as the only time she stops making it is when she’s sleeping), and everytime she sees one of the boys she postures with her butt sticking out trying to look all sexy and enticing. Funny thing is, being neutered, the guys don’t really seem to know how to react. Hobbes is more or less content to sit a ways back and stare at her with a perplexed look, while Gryphon has tried to play with her a few times (at which point I say “Gryphon, I don’t think that is the kinda of game she’s interested in playing at the moment”). Last night, I think she grew impatient with their innocence on the matter and she tried to mount Hobbes (to show him how it’s done???).
This morning we made her an appointment to be spayed on Wednesday, but I have to say that I’ve found a few days of having a horny cat to be somewhat amusing.
