This is also located at http://www.dolphinsdock.com/intro/ which you can access from the menu bar at the top but I thought it would be an appropriate first post as well.
Thanks for visiting my little tiny spot on the world-wide web. This is a brief introduction to Dolphins Dock so that you can find your way around and know a little bit of what to expect.
For those of you who used to read Where the Dolphins Play, you’ll remember that I used to be a primarily political blogger. Here at Dolphin’s Dock, I’m taking a different approach. This is a personal weblog. That doesn’t mean I’m going to bore you with the details of what I ate for dinner last night, nor does it mean politics will never be discussed. All it means is that I’m not limiting myself by selecting a focus. I will probably never gain as many readers with this approach to blogging as I did with Where the Dolphins Play, but at this point I think I’m ok with that.
The left side of my blog will be where you’ll find my larger posts. These may or may not be particularly in depth or enlightening but if they’re longer than a paragraph, you’ll find them on the left. On the right side, I’ve put a section called “Small Splashes” where I’ll make shorter posts. If I find a neat link I’d like to share with little to no commentary, or a brief idea pops into my mind, I’ll toss it up over there. Allowing for such content will enable me to post more often without feeling like I’m simply filling my blog with fluff, and without pushing the more substantive posts off of the main page. My blogroll, archives, etc will be in the bar between the left and right posts.
Well that’s what you can expect and where you can look for it. Now it time for some things I shouldn’t have to say but it’s probably better if I do anyways. This is my personal blog. Any opinions, thoughts, statements, etc. that appear within reflect me alone and are not necessarily shared by my employer, friends, family, pets, grocer, doctor, garbage man or anybody else. That is except for the comments which exclusively reflect the views of the commenter who posted them. When I link to a website, news story, blog entry, etc. I am not endorsing, accepting, agreeing with or otherwise taking responsibility for everything (or anything) written on that external site. Any excerpted sections are taken under “fair-use” and their reproduction has not always been explicitly authorized by the copyright owner. All copyrights and trademarks remain the intellectual property of their owners. If I’ve reprinted an item that you own the copyright to and would like to see that item removed, just ask and I will rectify the situation. I will always credit the owner of any material which I excerpt from, and would ask that if you excerpt from me, you do the same. If you email me that email becomes my property and I reserve the right to publish that email should I choose to do so. If you would like a particular email correspondence to remain private, indicate so in the email and I will respect your wishes.
That’s all I can think of right now, but I may update this later if necessary. I hope you don’t find the above to stifling to enjoy your visit.
